The Carbon Footprint accounts for the emission of all Greenhouse Gases (GHG) produced by individuals, companies, organizations respectively their activities and is expressed in tons of CO2 equivalent per year.
It is ever more urgent to know the size of the Carbon Footprint in order to be able to adopt and implement measures to reduce it as much as possible. This is true for Organizations as well as for Individuals.
The Carbon Footprint is an environmental indicator that accounts for direct as well as indirect emissions of Greenhouse Gases, including amongst others carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs) as well as sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3).
These gases released in excess into the atmosphere provoke significant environmental impacts namely the increase of the global average temperature (Greenhouse effect). Lately we have witnessed record breaking temperatures: the last decade was the warmest ever, the last six years were the warmest ever and the month of July 2021 was the warmest ever.
The consequences of the temperature increase for our ecosystems are by now well-known: rising number of natural catastrophes (severe tropical storms, fires, droughts, floods) desertification, melting of the glaciers and the ice on the poles, increase of the sea level….

“Offset Projects” are designed to retain, reduce or remove CO2 emissions and thus create Carbon Credits. By acquiring these Carbon Credits your Organization can compensate the part of emissions that cannot yet be reduced.
